The open design of disc brakes also means they shed water quickly in wet conditions, keeping performance reliable.
Why Rear Drums
The rear axle handles less braking force, so drum brakes are sufficient. They are cheaper to manufacture, which helps keep the vehicle price down. Drum brakes also make it easier to integrate a parking brake mechanism. The self-energizing design holds the car on slopes without relying on hydraulic pressure.

Front disc rear drum brakes offer a good balance of safety and cost. This cost effective setup delivers strong stopping power where the vehicle is loaded hardest, while the rear drums handle the lighter load reliably.
